When I COPY an image from PhotoFiltre into the clipboard, I can't paste it inti imageN. I get the message that "Image must have 24 bits/pixel." I can paste it into Photoshop Elements, but I prefer imageN for quick use of photoshop plugins. Is there a way to get 24 bits correct for imageN?
I know the shareware version of PhotoFiltre will allow photoshop compatible plugins. Any idea when this will be released? Then I will use PF exclusively.

Clipboard
I can copy an image if PF and paste into Irfanview and copy the image in Irfanview and then I can copy into imageN. But I can't copy directly into imageN. I want to do that because imageN lets me use all my photoshop plugins. I can then paste them back into PF. I don't know why it rejects the clipboard from PF but not from other editors, such as Irfanview and Photoshop Elements. If PF gets photoshop plugins, it won't matter.
Yes, my video driver is 32 bits, but I can still copy between all photo editors EXCEPT from PhotoFiltre to imageN. PhotoFiltre accepts files copied from imagen. Imagen accepts files from all programs EXCEPT PhotoFiltre.
ImageN handles photoshop plugins better than any other program. I'd like to be able to paste images I've copied from PhotoFiltre into imagen so I can use my plugins.
Imagen is a free download from http://www.pixoid.com/
Is anyone willing to test what I'm saying? Maybe there's an easy solution.

24 bit
I asked the author of imageN about this problem. He suggested the following:
2. Configure PhotoFiltre to use 24bpp when copying images to the clipboard. As I'm not familiar with PhotoFiltre, I'm not sure that's at all possible. (I DON'T THINK IT IS. Jim)
3. Configure PhotoFiltre to use 24bpp when editing images (perhaps it uses 32bpp or 16bpp right now). Again, I don't know how you'd do it in PhotoFiltre, but this option is usually called "Increase/Decrease Color Depth", "Convert Colors" or similar in other image editors. Set it to 24bpp, i.e. 16+ million colors. (INDEXED COLOR IS POSSIBLE, BUT THAT'S NOT WHAT WE NEED. jIM)
4. Switch the display driver to from 32bpp (RGBA) to 24bpp (RGB) in case PhotoFiltre for some reason assumes images copied to the clipboard should be in screen format. Note however that not all display drivers support 24bpp (some only do 16bpp and 32bpp) and switching from 32bpp to 24bpp removes display driver support for the 'A' channel (transparency) which can cause slowdowns/problems for programs that expect the display driver to support 32bpp. (MY DRIVER WILL TAKE 16 OR 32 BIT ONLY. Jim)

What about the developers of PhotoFiltre talking to the author of imageN about how he implemented Photoshop plugins? In my opinion, nobody has done it better, not even Photoshop. He answers email about his program very promptly and very completely. He wants to be helpful. With photoshop plugins PhotoFiltre would be unstoppable. I think he might be willing to help because he hasn't been developing his freeware photo editor, imageN, for several years. His web page is http://www.pixoid.com.
His best answer was:
1. Instead of copying the image to clipboard in PhotoFiltre, save it as a .bmp file and use Edit/Paste from File (Ctrl+F) in imageN. When loading images from files, imageN automatically does the conversion to 24 bits per pixel so it doesn't matter which format PhotoFiltre uses to save the file.
I'll use this method until PhotoFiltre gets photoshop plugins.
