How do I use plugins?? I'm sooo confused... please help.....

I have no idea what I'm doing... It's a different file type than the others once you download it. Now how do I use them, then?? I don't know how to change the file type. And please don't try responding with fancy computer-talk LOL I won't understand you, most likely.

And from where you have it downloaded ?
Can you give us the extension file type you've got ?
