Hello,
maybe this is a very basic question but how do you move a selection, and I mean move the actual pixels, not the selection rectangle itself.
So I am trying to open an image, and select an area, and then MOVE the pixels themselves.
In Photoshop, you can select an area, then type "V" and move the pixels in that layer. So I was hoping for some similar procedure in PF.
can it be done? thank you, merci
I think CUT (ctrl-X) and paste (ctrl-V) and then flatten (ctrl-enter) is a lot of steps just to nudge some pixels .... to me it is such a basic function of a graphics program to be able to move pixels around I am surprised to see such a powerful program doesnt have this feature

==> I don' like this function, I never use it. In a photo, I don't want to move pixels, I copy and paste only.
Have you the stamp tool tried ?
It does quickly and nearly that you have described.
If you combine the stamp tool with a selection, that you have copied will only in the selection be pasted, and not beyond.
In other words, copy with the stamp a large area, and the selection will crop the pasted area.
Other way to do exactly that you want :
- select an area.
- Edit/Use as pattern
- move your selection at the right place you want
- Edit/Fill with pattern
No layers will be added.
Why simply do when it could be complicated ?
Copy / Paste don't need to enable a subsidiary function to displace a selection.
When your selection is pasted, you can move it before validate, and more...
Did you try to do a right clic in the pasted selection ?
I think you should try PhotoFiltre a little more to realy appreciate it's simplicity.
