How to use 'Edit Alpha Channel' [pfs]

Message par Lord Tyler »

I have not found anything giving an answer to my question yet.

There are atm 2 layers in one of my Pictures, background and another layer.
I want to edit the Alpha Channel of the 2nd layer, so I choose 'Edit Alpha channel' in the Layer-menu.
OK, now a new windows pops up, with indexed color. I convert it to RBG color [shouldn't I??] and make here and there gradients and other stuff.
Now I have an 'Alpha channel mask', but how can I use this as Alpha channel in my layer now??

Copy the new alpha channel and paste using Edit > Paste special > paste as Alpha channel

Thank you!

This is really one of the best graphic programs Ive ever seen, but that thing with special paste should be displayed somewhere.

This function is not very used because it's only for advanced users

I thought so at 1st myself. To be honest I only found it by accident and then forgot for a couple days where it was and couldn't find it.

I then figured out that if I had to copy the alpha layer to get back to my original then I had to paste it.
