Adjusting progressive contour values

Hi
I want to use a 'feathering' effect when selecting a shape. When I use Layer/Border Effect/Progressive Contour this does what I want but the 'feathering' is too wide.

Is there a way to reduce the number of pixels width that this facility affects? I want a much narrower selection.
