Using the Clone Tool

Message par sebulba »

Hello Members
This is my first post, and I need a little help with the Clone Tool.
I've taken a photograph of the front of my house, and I want to see what the finished result would be if I have a smaller front window (currently there are 4 panels and I want 2)
Starting small, I've used the Clone Tool to clone a single brick, so holding CTRL I "click" on the tool, and then move into the Window frame.....
Q1 How do I "drop" the single brick into the window frame
I've copied the original photo and cropped it to show a row of bricks 6 wide and 8 high
Q2 Can this image be imported into the original picture (instead of cloning)

Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul,

Q1 : => When you hold down Ctrl key and clic left , you define the source point of the cloning process.
To drop, you have simply to clic left on the exact target point you wish to clone the source point.

If you check the Fixed box, the area cloned will be exactly the same as the source area at each left clic,
but if not checked, while drawing with the down holded left clic, the area cloned will be the same
as a forward shifted one from the source area. It's matches like a pantograph.

But you can also define an area with a selection tool and do : menu Edit / Define pattern
and in the clone stamp tool settings you can check the Pattern box.
You have to try if you prefer check the Fixed box or not.

Q2 : => Fortunately yes : copy an area defined by a selection and paste it.
After pasting, have also a look in the pop up menu of the right clic in the selected area.
Till the pasting is not validated you can try some differents options
